Faith

Have you seen the latest YouTube phenomenon? It is Christian the lion and his being reunited with his former owners. This all happened back about 35 years ago. These two men who lived in England purchased a lion cub. Then after keeping him until he weighed 185 pounds they decided to reintroduce him to the wild. This was successfully done and then a year later they went to visit their lion. The video at one point shows the lion starting to run at the two men and through recognition they start playing and loving on each other. This has turned into one of the great AWWWW moments for this week. It has become so popular that the Today Show did an exclusive interview with the two men who owned the lion.

What I want to talk about is the scene where the lion recognizes the two men and comes running at them. The video makes it look as if it is no big deal, that the two men knew that the lion would recognize them and would not charge and hurt them. That love would prevail and everything would be fine. In their interview the men claimed to have no fear and had no doubt at all in their minds that nothing bad would happen. Now I am not going to call these men liars because I don’t have any grounds to do so. But I have had animals come running at me before. I have had bulls come at me and turn at the last moment. I have been put over many a fence by a cow who was protecting her calf. I have been chased by wild hogs. I have been almost run over by horses. I have even been chased by a rattlesnake. There have been many times when I have been in situations were someone or something had the ability and opportunity to hurt me. And without fail every time my stomach would tighten and I would have the thought that this is it, I am going to die. Now sometimes I would turn tail and run and sometimes I would stand my ground. To stand your ground in any kind of situation takes faith. The kind of faith that Christ said will move mountains.

We face situations each and every day of our lives that require faith. It might not be facing a lion but when you are having an operation it takes faith to trust in the doctors. When bills come in and you don’t have enough money to buy groceries it takes faith to believe that your family will not starve. When you have your first child it takes faith to know that you can take care of that child.

Do you have the faith to stand up and face the situations that you are in? If not just talk to Jesus he can help.

This is the YouTube video so enjoy the AWWWW moment.
